On 10 May 2006, a delegation from Dalian University of Technology visited Centre for Water and Waste Technology and Australia-China consortium for Water Research (ACCWR).
In the meeting, Professor Nick Ashbolt, Head of School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, introduced about the components of the school and the research in the Centre, and Dr Ashish Sharma, Acting Director of ACCWR, introduced the background and the achievements for ACCWR. The delegation was very interested in the research work being done in Centre, particularly the researches on water reuse and risk assessment. They indicated that the areas of water reuse and health risk assessment were highlighted in the government plan for water resource management and environment protection in next 5 years in China. They hope to build up collaborative research on these areas and introduce the cutting age technology to the developing program in China.
Both parties had an oral agreement to develop research collaboration and educational exchange program from this year.
Professor Fenglin Yang and Vice director general of Dalian Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Mr Zhongyan Si from the delegation invited Professor Ashbolt to visit Dalian University of Technology and Dalian city to facilitate the collaboration between two universities. Professor Ashbolt responded that he would try to arrange a time to visit Dalian round September this year.
