On 5 October 2004, a delegate group led by the president Zhang Changkuan of Hohai University, visited the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, UNSW and the Australia-China Consortium for Water Research (ACCWR).
The visitors from Hohai University came to seek potential cooperation with UNSW.
During their visit, some presentations were given by two parties. Associate Professor James E Ball, Dr Richard Stuetz and Dr Asish Sharma delivered presentations on their research on hydrology, water resources management and stormwater treatment. Professor Ren Liliang introduced the activities of education and research in Hohai University.
After the presentations, there was a short discussion on the cooperation issues such as education cooperation in a postgraduate program and exchange scholars.
