Professor Waite and Dr Guan Visited Shenyang Key Laboratory

Recently, from 4th to 6th October, the director of Centre for Water and Waste technology (CWWT), Professor T. David Waite and Dr Jing Guan (Centre staff) had a successful visit to Shenyang Key Laboratory of Environmental Engineering.

Led by Professor Tieheng Sun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Shenyang Key Laboratory is established by the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Environmental Engineering, Beijing University and Shenyang University. Research areas in this Key Laboratory focus on wastewater treatment and resources, ecological system remediation, contaminated environmental medium remediation, and ecological environment planning, which mostly match the research areas in CWWT.

The Centre for Water & Waste Technology and the Shenyang Key Laboratory have discussed the details of international collaboration for academic activities, professional exchanges and the development of research links between Australia and China.

Professor Waite and Professor Sun then signed a collaboration agreement between CWWT and Key Laboratory. They have agreed to work together and to contribute to the development of the Australia-China Consortium For Water Research. Shenyang University had also awarded Professor David Waite as their Honorary Professor.

During their stay, Professor Waite and Dr Guan also visited two wastewater treatment plants in which land and wetland processes have been used successfully for wastewater treatment.
